{"id":4919,"date":"2025-09-17T09:53:44","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T04:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.lankanewsnetwork.com\/?p=4919"},"modified":"2025-09-17T09:53:44","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T04:23:44","slug":"construction-of-kadawatha-mirigama-section-of-central-expressway-resumes-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.lankanewsnetwork.com\/?p=4919","title":{"rendered":"Construction of Kadawatha\u2013Mirigama section of Central Expressway resumes today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The construction of the Kadawatha to Mirigama section of the Central Expressway is scheduled to officially resume today (17), under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the recommencement, work will also commence on the Kadawatha Interchange and the first 500-meter stretch of the expressway.<\/p>\n<p>The government has allocated Rs. 8.6 billion for the project.<\/p>\n<p>Construction of this section was suspended in mid-2022 following the suspension of credit facilities due to the economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Export-Import Bank of China has approved a Yuan-denominated loan equivalent to USD 500 million to enable the resumption of work.<\/p>\n<p>The project is expected to be fully completed by mid-2028.<\/p>\n<p>The distance between Kadawatha and Mirigama on the Central Expressway is 37 kilometers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The construction of the Kadawatha to Mirigama section of the Central Expressway is scheduled to officially resume today (17), under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
